the LG puricare wearable air purifier aims to offer a new level of portable protection. it adapts the filters seen in their home air purifier products to fit on the face. this resolves the dilemma of homemade masks of inconsistent quality and disposal masks being both in short supply and bad for the environment. kitted on to the sides of the mask, two high-performance filters enable a supply of fresh, clean air indoor and out. their patented respiratory sensor detects the cycle and volume of the wearer’s breath and adjusts the dual fans accordingly, to make breathing effortless.
its all-white design is ergonomically shaped based on extensive facial shape analysis. this ensures it fits snugly to minimize air leakage around the nose and chin, as well as be worn for hours. although seemingly large, the mask is relatively light as it features a lightweight 820mAh battery that offers between two and eight hours depending on usage in high or low mode.
the face mask is accompanied by a case to ensure hygiene is maintained between uses. it is equipped with UV-LED lights that kills harmful germs. as well as helping charge the mask, the case can also send notifications to an app to remind users when the filters need to be replaced. these, as well as all its components, are replaceable and recyclable. the LG puricare wearable air purifier will be shown as part of their virtual exhibition at the IFA 2020, which has been reformatted in light of the pandemic.
